Scientific Name: Physostegia virginiana

Common names: Fall Obedient Plant, False Dragonhead

Plant Type: Perennial

Lighting requirements: Full sun to partial shade

Height: 2-4 feet

Width: 2-3 feet

Seasonal interest: Late summer to fall, with pink, white, or purple tubular flowers

Drought tolerance: Moderate

Deer resistance: Yes, but I've heard of them browsing

Attracts: Bees, butterflies, hummingbirds

Hardiness Zones: 3-9

Soil requirements: Moist, well-drained, loamy soil

pH range: 6.0 - 7.5

Native to: Central and Eastern North America

Potential disease issues: Powdery mildew, leaf spot

It can spread aggressively in gardens. That's not very obedient! I do have a client that has one, and it does not spread at all. It's planted in poor rocky limestone soil and gets little water.
