Scientific Name: Parkinsonia aculeata
Common Names: Mexican Palo Verde, Jerusalem Thorn, Horse Bean
Native to: Tropical and subtropical regions of the Americas
Lighting Requirements: Full sun
Height: 15–30 feet (usually just 15' tall in Central Texas)
Width: 10–20 feet
Winter Look: Deciduous; bare branches with a unique, sculptural form
Seasonal Interest: Spring and summer blooms; bright yellow flowers with orange streaks

Soil Requirements: Well-drained soils, sandy or rocky
