Scientific Name: Pavonia lasiopetala

Common Names: Rock Rose, Texas Rock Rose, Rose Pavonia

Native to: Texas, Northern Mexico

Lighting Requirements: Full Sun to Partial Shade

Height: 2-4 feet

Width: 2-3 feet

Winter Look: Semi-evergreen; may die back in colder climates but regrows in spring

Seasonal Interest: Late spring to fall (pink hibiscus-like flowers)

Drought Tolerance: High; very resilient in dry conditions

Soil Requirements: Well-drained, sandy or rocky soils (grows well in my clay soil as well)

pH Range: 6.0 - 7.5 (slightly acidic to neutral)

Hardiness Zones: USDA Zones 8-10

Deer Resistance: Moderate; sometimes browsed by deer (I don't consider these deer-resistant, but have some clients that grow them around deer with no issues)

Attracts: Bees, Butterflies

Disease resistance: Powdery mildew is an occasional problem, particularly when grown in damp and shadier locations

Notes: Ideal for xeriscaping and cottage gardens. Long blooming season and low maintenance. Rock Rose likes to give back! You will have seedlings to share with friends and neighbors, but they are very easy to control.
